It’s been a bit since our last update, so here’s what’s been going on.
We’ve been running all around this grand coast. We made our triumphant return to the Rockwood Music Hall in New York City, closing out a night of awesome acts. We then spent a day of stoop-sitting and eating lamb and bison burgers which earned us our green cards (we think?).
We then returned to our beloved Wilmington to fight the forces of evil along with our new space-friends, Peelander-Z and Tiger!Tiger! We felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out, then continued crying out for the remainder of the show.
Onward, we played Barnstock in Huntersville, alongside Brody and Choch, Donna the Buffalo, The Business People, Chasing Pedestrians, and oh so many more. It was a blast for two reasons: (1) we had a great time and met some rad people and (2) it was hot enough to detonate a nuclear warhead outside. Altogether, much fun was had. And we learned sign language!
And now comes the big one. The show that will prompt someone to say, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat.” That’s right. This weekend sparks the event known as NERDAPALOOZA 2012. We’ll be happily sharing the stage with the likes of such geek legends as The Protomen, Frogsuit, Mega Ran, The Thoughtcriminals, Adam Warrock, and plenty others. Check out the full schedule here. It’s going to be INTENSE. There’s even going to be a geeky burlesque show, where you’ll find us in the back, blushing and giggling. Please come out and have fun with us!
Things have been cool over here! As you may or not know, we’re doing remixes all summer (providing we don’t explode). We’re premiering them Over at our YouTube. At the end of it there will be a surprise, so you might wanna check in on us in the next couple months (provided we don’t explode). The latest is Blood Mountain from Museum Mouth.
We’ll be playing with Dead Fame (from VA) during our upcoming shows. We’re digging their sound, and know you will too, so if you are in Wilmington, Charlotte, or Durham you’ll want to come out and dance. Or party. These are the only choices. Wilmington fans will also want to see the adorable Dearest We.
Over at our Facebook, Tim had people assist in a song. He wanted to write a dance song, without using the word dance. After quite a few submissions, he stitched together the lyrics and made a demo, which is available on our soundcloud for you listening pleasure. What do you think of it?
Good afternoon, everyone. We Sluggers are proud to announce th-WHAT THE?!
BOOM! A wild Nerdapalooza hits you right in the face!! Your face is in SO MUCH PAIN. What’s a Nerdapalooza, you ask? You poor, sheltered child. Nerdapalooza is Orlando, Florida’s all-around nerd music and arts festival. This year alone, the lineup consists of Metroid Metal, Koo Koo Kangaroo, Random Encounter, Adam Warrock, The Thoughtcriminals, and so many more. Check out the current lineup!
Also announced today, D&D Sluggers will be on the bill! We’re so pumped, we’re considering throwing a building. It’s August 3-5. Make sure to get your tickets early!
While we’re on the subject of announcements, we’ve got a doozy for you. D&D Sluggers are really excited to bring you the news that we are officially the newest group signed with Kidnice Entertainment! These are the same people who have brought the likes of Brody and Choch to the world. This is certainly an era of new beginnings for D&D Sluggers. Keep an eye out for everything that comes next!
You might have also noticed a slight change in the structure of the website today. How very perceptive of you.
Here at Sluggers’ HQ, we’ve been working on some really cool stuff. There are some exciting things coming in our hometown of Wilmington, NC and BEYOND!!
Great stuff, right? Well with summer coming, we’re going shake things up by doing some remixes. We’re picking a few of our songs, friends songs some of our favorites to cut and paste, mix and match into crazy junk. We’re also gonna have a little help from our friends (not a Joe Cocker or Beatles reference) from everywhere. Keep an eye out on the 21st (next week) when the first one will go up on YouTube!
Coming up very soon are 2 cool events.
